John McDonnell

John commenced painting in watercolours in 1999. Watercolour enables a diversity of effects to be speedily achieved. Prior to 1999 John attended evening classes and summer schools (practical painting and art history). His main objectives are to present a romantic or perhaps a surreal approach to representations of New Zealand landscapes and gardens. John has regularly exhibited with Watercolour New Zealand and The New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts.

Alfred Memelink

Alfred Memelink has been painting watercolours since his first voyages to sea in the mid 1980s. However this hobby/work balance has swung where he now paints full time but still with the odd part time escape to sea or working on the little red harbour tugs. With the sea in his blood and a storm soul, he just loves painting Wellington in all sorts of weather and the sea in all its moods. He is currently in an ice berg fetish phase after a recent inspiring voyage to Antarctica. Alfred is a council member of the NZAFA.
