Paradoxically, since becoming a professional freelance artist in 2001, Daniel has found less time than before to actually paint pictures, due to the demand for his work in his niche areas of calligraphy and cartography, often for films such as The Lord of the Rings, the Narnia films, King Kong, and others. Examples of Daniel’s paintings in watercolours, oils and acrylics can be viewed on his website.

I have been painting watercolours since the early 1950’s. I find the majority of my subjects in the mountains of this country . Now I paint a much wider range of subjects. I received awards in the National Bank Watercolour competitions. I illustrated the book of paintings, “Mountains of the South”, and a children’s book “Tane’s Weta” I am a member of Watercolour N.Z. and the N.Z. Academy of Fine Arts. Email: janrun10@clear.net.nz
